Using Live Floor to Monitor Your Business in Real Time

Track who's being served, who's waiting, and room availability at a glance with Live Floor.

What is Live Floor?

Live Floor gives you a real-time dashboard of your service business operations. You can see which customers are currently being served, who's waiting in the queue, and the status of each room or chair — all from one screen.

When to use it

Use Live Floor during operating hours to:

  • Monitor queue flow and identify bottlenecks
  • Check room or chair availability at a glance
  • Assign staff or manage customer flow
  • Get visibility across your entire venue

How to access Live Floor

  1. Go to Sidebar ▸ Live Floor
  2. You'll see your business layout displayed with real-time status updates

Understanding the Live Floor display

Current customers being served

You'll see which customers are actively receiving service in each room or chair. This includes:

  • Customer name
  • Service being provided
  • How long they've been in service

Waiting queue

The waiting area shows:

  • Customers waiting for their appointment
  • How long they've been waiting
  • Which service they've booked

Room and chair status

Each space displays its current state:

  • Occupied — customer currently being served
  • Available — ready for the next customer
  • Break — staff member on a break or room closed
  • Out of service — temporarily unavailable (cleaning, maintenance)

Using Live Floor during your day

Monitor queue health

If the waiting list is growing, you can see at a glance which services or staff members are creating bottlenecks. Use this to:

  • Call in additional staff if needed
  • Adjust service times
  • Prioritise faster bookings

Manage capacity

With real-time room status, you can:

  • Direct customers to available spaces quickly
  • Prevent overbooking by seeing actual availability
  • Plan for lunch breaks or staff rotations without disrupting service

Improve customer experience

Keeping an eye on wait times helps you:

  • Proactively communicate delays to customers
  • Manage expectations about how long the queue is
  • Identify peak times for better staffing

Tips for getting the most from Live Floor

  • Check in regularly — Make it part of your routine to glance at Live Floor every 15–20 minutes
  • Use during peak times — Live Floor is most valuable when you're busy; it helps you spot issues before they become problems
  • Combine with Bookings — Cross-reference the queue with upcoming bookings to anticipate rush periods
  • Share with staff — If you have a shared display, your team can self-manage better by seeing where they're needed

Troubleshooting

I'm not seeing live updates

  • Refresh your browser or check your internet connection
  • Ensure staff are checking customers in and out correctly in Trimsy

My room/chair status seems wrong

  • Check that staff have marked services as complete in the system
  • Live Floor relies on real-time data entry, so status is only accurate if bookings are updated promptly
