The Salon Owner's Guide to Google Business Profile in 2025

Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing a potential client sees. Here is how to optimise it to drive more bookings.

When someone searches "hair salon near me" on Google, the first thing they see is not your website — it is your Google Business Profile. Getting this right is one of the highest-ROI things you can do for free.

Complete Every Field

Google rewards completeness. Make sure you have filled in:

  • Business name (exactly as it appears on your signage)
  • Address and service area
  • Phone number
  • Website (link to your Trimsy booking page if you do not have a separate site)
  • Opening hours, including holiday hours
  • Business category (Hair Salon, Beauty Salon, Barber Shop, etc.)
  • Services list with prices

Add Your Booking Link

In the "Booking" section of your profile, add your Trimsy booking URL. Clients can then tap "Book" directly from Google Maps or Search without ever visiting your website. This significantly reduces friction.

Post Updates Regularly

Google Posts appear in your profile and show up in search results. Aim for at least one post per week — a promotion, a new service, before/after photos, or a staff highlight. Posts expire after 7 days, which gives Google the signal that you are actively managing your presence.

Ask for Reviews (and Respond to All of Them)

Reviews are the most influential factor after proximity in local search rankings. Ask every satisfied client for a review — Trimsy can send a review request SMS automatically after a completed appointment (available on the Essential and Growth plans).

Respond to every review, including negative ones. A thoughtful response to a bad review often impresses potential clients more than a perfect rating.

Keep Photos Current

Businesses with more than 100 photos get significantly more direction requests and website clicks than those with fewer. Add photos of your interior, your team at work, your work (with client permission), and your products. Update them seasonally.
