What to Put on Your Salon's Instagram Bio (and What to Leave Out)
You have 150 characters to turn a profile visitor into a client. Here is exactly how to use them.
Your Instagram bio is read by every person who clicks on your profile — and most salons waste it. Here is a breakdown of what works.
What to Include
Location — especially suburb or city. People looking for a salon are looking for one near them. "Melbourne CBD" or "South Yarra" tells them immediately if you are relevant.
What you specialise in — do not just say "hair salon." Say "balayage & lived-in colour" or "precision cuts & men's grooming." Specificity attracts the right clients and repels mismatched expectations.
A direct booking link — not your homepage. Your Trimsy booking page URL. Visitors should be able to go from profile to booked appointment in under 60 seconds.
Social proof line — optional, but "Loved by 2,000+ clients across Melbourne" or a signature style statement builds instant credibility.
What to Leave Out
Phone number — if you have an online booking system, a phone number in the bio encourages calls instead of bookings, which creates admin work and is harder to track.
Email address — same reason. If someone needs to contact you, a DM or a contact form is more manageable.
Your entire service menu — save that for a highlight or your website. A bio is an introduction, not a catalogue.
Hashtags in the bio — they make it look cluttered and they do not meaningfully drive discovery.
The One-Link Problem
Instagram only allows one clickable link in the bio. Use it for your Trimsy booking page if bookings are your primary goal. If you need to link to multiple things, use a link-in-bio tool like Linktree.

Clean. Specific. Actionable. That is all you need.
