Referral Programme Rules
How referral rewards are earned, what they are worth, and when they are not paid.
1. Who can refer
Any Trimsy workspace can refer another business, including one on a free plan or still in its trial. Your referral link is in your workspace under Billing → Refer & Earn.
2. A reward is earned only on a paid subscription
This is the rule that decides everything else. A referral earns a reward only when the business you referred takes a paid plan and their first subscription payment succeeds.
Until that happens, nothing is earned. Specifically, none of the following earn a reward on their own:
- Signing up for an account
- Starting a free trial, however long they use it
- Staying on the free plan
- Entering card details without a payment being taken
- A payment that fails, is reversed, or is refunded
Your Refer & Earn screen shows these separately — how many have signed up, and how many have actually subscribed — so you can always see which of your referrals have earned something and which have not.
3. What you receive
What the reward is depends on whether you are paying for Trimsy at the time it is earned.
If you have a paid subscription: account credit equal to one month of your current plan, up to a maximum of $100 per referral. The credit is applied to your Trimsy account and comes off your next invoice automatically.
If you are on a free plan or a trial: a credit against a plan that costs nothing would be worth nothing, so you receive a free month on the next plan up instead. Free months stack — two qualifying referrals is two months — and are added to the end of any period you already hold. When they run out your workspace returns to its previous plan; nothing is charged automatically.
4. One reward per business
Each referred business can generate one reward, once. A business that cancels and later resubscribes does not generate a second reward, and a business already known to Trimsy before you referred them does not generate one at all.
5. Attribution
A referral is recorded when the new business signs up through your link. It cannot be added afterwards — if they signed up without it, there is no record connecting you, and we have no way to verify a claim made later. You cannot refer yourself, and additional workspaces created by the same business are not referrals.
6. Credit is credit, not cash
Referral credit and free months have no cash value. They cannot be withdrawn, transferred to another workspace, or exchanged for a refund, and any unused balance ends when your workspace closes. Credit is applied to future invoices only — it does not refund invoices you have already paid.
7. When a reward is withheld
We may withhold or reverse a reward where a referral is not genuine — duplicate or automated signups, businesses you control yourself, accounts created only to claim a reward, or a payment that is later refunded or charged back.
If we do, we will tell you which referral was affected and why. We will not quietly remove a reward from your balance.
8. Changes to the programme
We may change or end the referral programme at any time. Rewards already earned are honoured under the rules that applied when they were earned. Questions go to [email protected].
