Gift cards — issuing and redeeming gift vouchers
Sell digital or physical gift cards through the POS and let customers redeem them at checkout.
Gift Cards are pre-loaded vouchers sold at the POS and redeemed as a payment method at checkout. They are a popular add-on for birthdays and special occasions.
Selling a gift card
In the POS, search for "Gift Card" or find it in the catalog. Enter the desired value and add it to the cart. When payment is completed, a unique gift card code is generated and sent to the recipient by email or SMS, or printed as part of the receipt.
Redeeming a gift card
At checkout, after adding services to the POS cart, select Gift Card as the payment method. Enter the card code (or scan the barcode if you have a scanner). The system validates the code and deducts the amount from the gift card's remaining balance. If the purchase exceeds the gift card value, the customer can pay the difference with another method.
Checking a gift card balance
From the Gift Cards section in the catalog, search for a card code to see its current balance and full transaction history. Customers can also check their balance from your public website.
Physical vs digital gift cards
Trimsy generates gift card codes automatically. You can print these codes on physical cards, email them digitally, or both. There is no difference in functionality — the code is what matters.
Expiry
When creating a gift card template, you can set a default expiry period (e.g. 12 months from purchase). Expired gift cards cannot be redeemed. You can override or extend the expiry on an individual card from the admin panel.
